I have no sound AT ALL with the asus F7F laptop and Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10, kernel 2.6.22-14-generic
I have tried to fix it by adding at the end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base the following line :
options snd-hda-intel model=3stack-660
I have tried with 3stack, asus, 3stack-660-digout, auto ... without success; I also tried with no luck :
options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 model=3stack-660
Nothing obviously wrong in dmesg. Mute is not turned on ...

cat /proc/asound/ card0/codec# * | grep Codec gives:
Codec: Realtek ALC660-VD
Codec: Motorola Si3054
The sound setting are the default ones : automatic detection, automatic detection, automatic detection, ALSA, HDA Intel (Alsa mixer). All tests failed.
Do you think I should try Ubuntu 8.4 ?
Thanks for your help.
