First, the bug log is quite long. Has someone managed to get WOL working *without* modifying the shutdown scripts to leave the interface up, as I suggested in the Ubuntu bug log? Re-reading the bug log, it seems that Pierre-Yves and Matthew solved it by leaving the interface up.

Also, Bruno, can you confirm that it works even if the interface is down during shutdown?

My current testing shows that with either patch #13898 or #14013, running "ifconfig eth0 down" blocks (ifconfig is left in D state). Has someone else seen the same behaviour? I'm using a 8168, but patch #14775 doesn't change anything to this problem. (the unpatched driver works fine)
