As I look for a fix for my new [duo core] Vostro, I find you folks have similar issues. Amazing how much time and effort is being spent out there for years!
You maybe interested in details [that go unresponded] with bug 32123 [they have no interest!] and 223656.
Setting to 'all_generic_ide' does work! Glad I don't have to use any RAID or mirroring. Good luck.
