I have updated to 2.6.22-14 kernel and it did not resolve the issue.

~$ uname -a
Linux longisland 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Wed Oct 10 05:28:36 GMT 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux
~$ sudo iwlist eth0 scan
eth0 No scan results
