Same problem with current desktop cd (29/03, kernel 2.6.20-13). Except I can't even boot from the cd, and I get the same errors :
ata1.0: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x4)
ata2.0: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x4)

My system:
Core 2 Duo E6300
Motherboard - MSI 965 Neo
DVD±RW - Samsung SH-W133A SATA
HDD SATA II

I'm waiting for kernel 2.6.20-14 in the daily build and will report here success or failure.
