I can confirm this in
Linux ubuntu 2.6.20-15-386 #2 Sun Apr 15 07:34:00 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

In my case I can't use a 250GB Freecom Classic HD without unmodprobing ehci_hcd.
