I have posted about a similar problem on bug #96084. Attached is the error I get when trying to begin the Feisty installation (I have disabled my JMicron controller and the same error occurs). Of course, the installation does not proceed. I too have an Intel Core 2 Duo (E6600), abit AB9 pro motherboard, geforce 7600gt,,, lspci is linked to here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/96084/comments/49
