I think that the importance of the problem should be considered high.

Aiglx is an important innovation with respect to Dapper, it brings Ubuntu in direct competition with the GUIs of Mac OS or Vista.

However, nobody is going to use Aiglx on the laptop if it impairs useful features such as hibernate or suspend.

The problem with Aiglx and suspend has been discussed in several places, here for instance:

but is still not solved. However, it should be solvable in principle.
