You need to uncomment the line

 DOUBLE_CONSOLE_SWITCH=true

 in file /etc/default/acpi-support

And this works! AFAIK DOUBLE_CONSOLE_SWITCH=true was needed e.g. for some older nVidia card drivers to work properly after resume.
