Hello,

I have managed to get some sound functions working with a custom-patched kernel.org 2.6.23.1. I applied [1] to the patch_realtek.c file, part of the snd_hda_intel driver. The patch is against a different version, so I had to apply it manually in the end. Attached is the file I ended up with.

It appears that 2.6.23.1 includes an earlier version of the same patch, however this did not work for me. The later patch provides sound playback for me, however I haven't managed to get the mic working as yet.

Alsa 1.0.14 does -not- fix the bug for this laptop model (Toshiba A200/L01). There is some talk here[2] about the patch I used being included in 1.0.15-rc1, so that might fix things.

It may be possible to patch a 2.6.22 kernel in the same way as I patched mine.
