1.0.8-1 is significantly improved over the last 1.0.7 release. However,
because so many different changes were made, I do expect that some bugs
will turn up. Someone has already filed #290995, for example.

Bugs aside, I want to add basic support for the new --with-card-options
option that has been added to the configure script. I have already
checked in the changes for this. We will probably release alsa-driver
1.0.8-2 before very long in order to address these issues.

So to answer your question: Yes, I think that 1.0.8-1 or -2 is fairly
safe and should be included in sarge.
