I have tried the newest stable kernel (2.6.16.16), but that didn't help. I tried Fedora Core 5 (also 2.6.16), but it showed the same symptoms. The Release Notes for fc5 do say that the "pcmcia framework used by laptop and mobile devices has changed." Perhaps this is the cause?
