I also have the same problem with Ubuntu 6.06 but on a Acer TravelMate 529 TXV.

Booting stops as it tries to load the cd-module.
The same thing happens when I try booting Kanoptix 2006 RC4

openSuSE and Knoppix are booting fine, with no bootoptions.
