I can reproduce this bug with the new iso ubuntu-6.06-rc-desktop-powerpc.iso on my IMac g3 233 MHz with 96 MB RAM.
Yaboot loads from CD and whatever label I use after loading the ELF32 Loader and filling the RAM-Disk the folling line shows up 'can not allocate device-tree chuck' above the Mac-firmware-prompt.
Also the Mac is running fine with a debian-2.6.8 kernel. But this one has problems with hal and some minor usb stuff.
