Yeah, after changing sources.list, run these commands:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install linux-image-686

(or linux-image-k7, or linux-image-386, whichever you use)

It would be best if you could do a full upgrade, but this shoudl work for now.
You may want to upgrade any alsa related apps too.
