I tried updating to Ubuntu's kernel 2.6.11-k7
I completely removed powernowd from my system and rebooted.
Still hit a random lock not much later.
However, I think I found something.
One of the times it hardlocked, it suddenly started spewing:
gam_server (or the like) and then said something to the effect of 'kernel panic - Aieeeee - killing interrupt handler'.
Fedora Core 3, Solaris 10, and other operating systems continue to run without incident, only Ubuntu continues to have this issue.
