Please read also read https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/Nvidia - it has links to bug reports talking explictly covering certain common problems. If your issue really isn't covered then please consider filing a new bug report rather than extending this one if you are looking for something more than a "quick fix".
