I'm changing this back to in progress. The bug is that the AR5007 chipset does not work, and that is still the default behaviour on a fresh install. While a simple tweak is available to remedy this, the user is not notified of this in any way. As such, the bug is still present until a) the correct driver is loaded instead of ath_pci, or b) on detecting that chipset, the user is displayed a dialog telling them the tweak they must do - obviously not an ideal solution, but enough to close the bug. |

ath5k in 2.6.27 is very unstable. A newer version of upstream ath5k is available in linux-backports-modules. Please use that. The in-kernel version of ath5k has been disabled (bug 288148). |

If the Hardy madwifi driver in linux-restricted-modules doesn't work for you, then try the DKMS madwifi package in the PPA http://ppa.launchpad.net/timg-tpi/ubuntu. Beyond that, you'll have upgrade to Intrepid for better Atheros 5K support. |
