I get the same here with an nVidia GeForce 8600 GT on gutsy
2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Tue Dec 18 05:28:27 UTC 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The odd thing is that it just started happening last week and the system has been very stable up until then. I am running compiz and avant-window-navigator (but not yakuake) and the system isn't under much load. It happened 3 times today so I'm going to try life without compiz for a while.
