I can also confirm the suspending behaviour on a T41p with fglrx + 2.6.22-14-generic .[ATI FireGL Mobility T2]
When trying to suspend the screen just goes black and the moon LED keeps flashing.

Going back to the open source ati driver makes suspend work, (though after waking up, I get some error message,
that suspend did not properly work)
