I can confirm that suspend works fine with kernel 2.6.24-2-generic (ie Hardy's kernel) using an ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 card. But like E_rulez found, resume fails. The PC starts resuming, turning on screen etc, and then freezes at some point - on one attempt I got as far as trying to log into a console using CTRL-ALT-F2, but it froze before asking me for my password.

I tried both Catalyst 7.11 and 7.12, with the same result.

It is interesting to note that fglrx's compiz performance is *much* smoother under 2.6.24. However, the open-source radeon driver also run smoother under 2.6.24. I can even run Google Earth at acceptable speed (with compiz on) using the open-source driver! On 2.6.22 it flickers horribly and rotates the globe extremely slowly.
