Some observations possibly useful for reproducing the bug:

* The bug does not seem to depend on the kind of sound Skype tries to make. Sometimes, when I feel that the next chat will lock my system for another five mins, I call Skype test call to trigger the log in a controlled way.

* The longer there is no sound from Skype, the longer the delay gets.

* Interesting: it seems it is not the period of Skype idling (and maybe doing some vicious things in the background): it is the mere time span since Skypes last sound. I never switch off my laptop but always use hibernate (suspend2-based). After resuming, I can be sure to get the delay. After a weekend offline, the delay might amount to more than 7mins, while it is only some 30secs after a short night during the week.

* I run Kubuntu, but with a custom kernel that is not related to Ubuntu at all (I compiled it myself, and it should not be tainted). Softwaresuspend2 is used for hibernating. Kernel details are: 2.6.18swsuspend2 #4 PREEMPT Sun Oct 15 13:05:36 CEST 2006 i686 GNU/Linux

* Machine is Thinkpad T41p, Kubuntu is Edgy and Skype is 1.3.0.53-1 installed from debs, but the bug occurred since Skype 1.3beta and Dapper.

* I do not see any kernel logs that show suspicious activity.

Thanks to anyone further investigating this!
