I've applied that patch with the latest posted driver in the thread and compiled ok (with warning, but ok). Even network-manager catch it and connecte me to my wpa network.
I'm running it on intrepid beta (updated from alpha 6) on an advent 4211 netbook (realtek 8187se detected as 8199).
I have to run wlan0up to enable it, but the wireless on/off button works and if i switch it off, iwconfig keeps reporting it but it stops giving me wireless networking using iwlist or thru network manager.
Hope it runs out of the box in the next kernel releases (mandriva 2009 and sioux distro have it working actually).
