Sorry, may be it wasn't obvious in my previous message, but I don't have "backport-iwlwifi-dkms" installed. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding. I'm not aware of having installed any other backports.

I'm not sure if this helps, but here's a list of all linux kernel and firmware packages installed after the upgrade:

~$ dpkg --list |grep 6.2.0-20
ii linux-headers-6.2.0-20 6.2.0-20.20 all Header files related to Linux kernel version 6.2.0
ii linux-headers-6.2.0-20-generic 6.2.0-20.20 amd64 Linux kernel headers for version 6.2.0 on 64 bit x86 SMP

Any results from terminal for

dkms status

It seems that the modules causing the issues are part of linux-modules-iwlwifi and I am not sure if that can be safely removed

Hi Jeremy.

Thanks for the help and clues! :-)

In fact, "dkms status" returned nothing as you expected, so I tried removing linux-modules-iwlwifi and that did the trick. It looks like I had this package installed from a previous Ubuntu release and it was being preserved during the upgrade.

@David Roche: try removing the linux-modules-iwlwifi package.

If removing the package works for David, then I suggest that this bug be closed, or instead refocused on the linux-modules-iwlwifi module, which no longer seems compatible with "Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201".

@Matthew No luck i'm afraid I removed the module and I'm still getting the same issue. @Jeremy is there any other steps I can try ?

David, is Windows installed also?

Windows was installed but it’s removed now. I have seen suggestions to create a bootable usb to disable the WiFi adapter but I’m not sure if that would work

David, power off the laptop and remove battery and power cord, then press and hold power button for 30 seconds, install battery and power cord, then boot. If the battery isn't easy to access, just remove power cord and hold power button for 30 seconds

I had a similiar problem, i removed all the existing linux-modules*iwlwifi* packages then installed backport-iwlwifi-dkms and it worked like a charm

After a dist-upgrade from 22.10 to 23.04 my Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 wasn't working.

After an hour of searching for the problem, I came here and after the command…

sudo apt remove --purge linux-modules-iwlwifi* …and a reboot, Wi-Fi is working again. Nice :)
