I've tested installing (and removing) this package on an up-to-date focal install, on a Pi 3B+ and a 4B which appears to be fine but I'd be interested to hear of corner cases that break things (I'm not sure what would happen if someone had an old linux-firmware-raspi2 package installed - which would necessitate linux-firmware being removed - not sure that even leaves a bootable system, but these are all things which ought to be tested).
A package with the latest firmware is available from the following PPA:
https:/ /launchpad. net/~waveform/ +archive/ ubuntu/ firmware/ +packages
This package includes diversions for the following files (which are also present in linux-firmware):
/lib/firmware/ brcm/brcmfmac43 455-sdio. bin brcm/brcmfmac43 455-sdio. raspberrypi, 3-model- b-plus. txt brcm/brcmfmac43 455-sdio. raspberrypi, 4-model- b.txt
/lib/firmware/
