Confirming with kernel 2.6.22-11 on a HP dv6500t
Still no sound
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03)
Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Unknown device 30cc
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 23
Memory at f8500000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: <access denied>
I had to compile the latest version of ALSA with a patch I found https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/file_download.php?file_id=2057&type=bug
added the files to /usr/src/alsa/alsa-driver-1.0.14/pci/hda/ and configured ALSA with --with-cards=hda-intel
Then added options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba to the end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
I've heard a lot of people have had luck with that patch, so why isn't it in ALSA?
