#31, there is a flaw in your logic: it assumes a recurring task is marked complete before the next recurrence occurs. This may not be the case.

For example, if I have a recurring monthly task "generate a sales tax report", and I let June, July and August pass without doing anything, I would expect 3 task instances to show up: one each for June, July, August (My tax auditor would expect it too!) And I should be able to complete August's task before I go back and complete June's, if that suits my workflow better. Comments #20 and #25 have got it right.
