I have an nvidia/intel hybrid GPU (GTX-850M), with nvidia proprietary drivers (nvidia-375) from the supported drivers PPA. The attempt failed when using the intel GPU, so the nvidia part is not involved. Using GDM I could load a fully functional Wayland session.

I'm using also the most updated Linux/X/Mesa HWE stack from main repository (I think it's based on the 16.10 stack).
