Hi there.

I think, if I recall correctly, that this was something I did manually a
long time ago under a previous Ubuntu version when Mark was the only
user on the system. I did it to avoid having to type in a password when
I turn the PC on. I can´t remember where I read about changing this
setting, it would have been on a forum somewhere because I am not a Unix
expert.

I guess the setting was carried through unchanged in the subsequent
upgrades, I didn´t notice anything until I tried to put a password on
the Mark account using the GUI and it didn´t work. Then I couldn´t
remember the change I´d made manually years previously.

I know it´s essentially user error but then users make errors, maybe the
GUI should check this setting when you flick the "password/nopassword"
switch?
