I'm using xfce4-screenshoot 1.8.1-1 / amd64

I cannot get a keyboard press to do a print screen / screen shot.

Any of the following key presses do nothing:

Print Screen
CTRL-Print Screen
ALT-Print Screen
SHIFT-Print Screen
CTRL-ALT-Print Screen

etc.

It appears I am also unable to add a screenshot keyboard shortcut.

Following the instructions given on this page:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xfce#Screenshots

"
Go to:

XFCE Menu --> Settings --> Keyboard >>> Application Shortcuts.

Add the "xfce4-screenshooter -f" command to use the "PrintScreen" key in order to take fullscreen screenshots. See screenshooter's man page for other optional arguments.

So this doesn't work either. This is what happens. Keyboard dialogue opens okay. Then the App Shortcuts dialogue opens ok. But when you add the command as instructed, you just get a message saying:

"
Command shortcut
command: xfce4-screenshooter -f
shortcut:
<Cancel>
"

So it tells you the command you just put in. But creates no shortcut, not offers any way of creating a shortcut. It then offers you but one option: to cancel the operation you just started! Clearly, you don't want to cancel the operation. You want to complete it. Because you just want to get your keyboard shortcut working. But you may have forgotten that by now. And you may also find your vision has been consumed by a haze of berzerker red.

Looking elsewhere just makes things work. Put "screenshot" in the settings manager gives no results, for example. Putting you head in a food processor might make you feel better.

So to recap. You have a modern operating system. The screenshot button doesn't work. You try a variety of combinations. Still nothing doing. You try referring to the settings. You can't find any relevant settings. The screenshot GUI-dialogue has no settings option. Neither does it have a keyboard shortcut option. The universal settings dialogue has no screenshot option. You do a search and find some instructions. The instructions are arcane. And very particular. The way to do a keyboard shortcut for a screenshot is not to look for screenshot settings but for keyboard settings. You try those instructions. They don't work.
