Dear MarkF,

I confirm your GIMP crashing problem, but I have this problem using GIMP 2.8. I got crashes nearly immediately.
After installing GIMP 2.10 from kesselgulasch's PPA there was problem no more.
I could work with GIMP 2.10 without any problem, and I really liked it, there was a great improvement since version 2.8. First I thought the source of all problem is the new Swap policy, using a dynamic swap file (instead of a predefined swap partition) as it is used in Windows systems. I stuck at using a swap partition, which never caused any problem. So crashing Gimp stopped with version 2.10. After trying XFCE's Thunar as a file manager I could realize the problem is not originated from PcManFM. It is something deeper... Then with Mate's Caja file manager all the crashes gone. The only difficulties were making Caja as default filemanager, and the Desktop handling with this file manager. But with this step I could make Lubuntu work stable.

Dear Walter,

I really didn't want to hurt any of LXQT developers. I'm sure this work is very hard, and this is just the beginning of a journey to a really great Lubuntu desktop. My (and others) fear was the chance of losing this great and lightning fast, very well configurable LXDE desktop which has worked and developed well for long-long years. LXQT is a bit strange now, but as time goes by we will get used to it. (My first decision to change to LXDE desktop (Lubuntu) is originated from Ubuntu changed its desktop from gnome 2.8 to Unity which was so strange.. and really divided the old community of Ubuntu users.) And Gnome became more and more power hungry and beautiful, LXDE remain fast and simple - and its beauty is its fastness.
So I want to apologize if I was rude.
I really looking forward to try a great LXQT Lubuntu.
I promise I will try 18.10 more, but I have to tell you I did not get a crash of PCManFM so far.

Best Regrads,
Janos
