After upgrading a Saucy host to libvirt 1.0.6-0ubuntu1 I had issues getting a Precise/12.04 machine (which runs virt-manager) to connect. The libvirt log on the Saucy host showed the following error:

virKeepAliveTimerInternal:140 : No response from client 0x7f911c7d2300 after 5 keepalive messages in 31 seconds

After downgrading the Saucy libvirt packages to 1.0.5-0ubuntu1 allowed me to connect again.
