Me too. Different webcam, same effect. Used to work under 5.04 with GnomeMeeting.
Webcam is a Sweex mini, and it shows up fine under HAL. Also, the messages and kernel logs indicate that it is recognised and modules are loaded.
However, when camorama or GnomeMeeting are started, the result is an instant system freeze. Virtual consoles aren't available, mouse doesn't work; a power switch job. Couldn't see anything in the logs between the loading of the drivers and the fresh restart after powering down...
If I go back a kernel version or two at the Grub stage I don't get a working camera, but I *do* get error messages from the apps and the system continues to run fine.
