I concur -- OTR support is needed, for sure. For anyone truly dedicated to Empathy, you could run the AIM proxy or write your own for any chat protocol (could be done easily in Java, libraries for most major chat services already exist.) However, until Empathy supports OTR, I, along with numerous other users, will be "stuck" with Pidgin.
