Bug Description

1) lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Release: 12.04

2) apt-cache policy libreoffice-calc
libreoffice-calc:
  Installed: 1:3.5.2-2ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:3.5.3-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
     1:3.5.3-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise-updates/main i386 Packages
 *** 1:3.5.2-2ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main i386 Packages

3) What is expected to happen in Calc via the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/153150/+attachment/3142909/+files/example.ods && localc --nologo example.ods

is when one highlights the merged cells A1-A5 -> use the mouse to grab the bottom right corner of the cells -> drag it to cell A10, cells A6-10 are merged, and the number increments to 2 in A10. Just as it does in Excel 2010. A screenshot of how it should look in Calc: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/12607059/autoFillExpected.png .

4) What happens instead is cells A6-A10 are not merged, and each cell has a number incremented.

Does the new version of openoffice.org 1:2.4.0~rc2 in Ubuntu hardy resolve your problem? I was not completely sure how to do the layout since it appears the ascii formatting screwed up what you were trying to draw.

Can you provide us with a screen shot of what you were expecting to see and what you actually got by trying to get it? This will help us in better understanding your bug and confirming it. Thanks in advance.

When the cell are merged, I would expect that autofill would take into
account the mereged cells, and not increase as if the cells were not
merged. This would be handy for making header rows that are bigger
that one cell.

I was trying to have merged cells that contained dates, and did not
want to type the consecutive dates for every merged cell. I thought
autofill would know about the merged cells.

This applies to 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.3

I haven't found how to upgrade from the repositories to the 2.4
version. Can you point me in the direction? I'm using 7.10 and have
the backport repositories enabled.

Thank you for your time,

D.

Is there any update on this bug? It still exists in openoffice.org-core 1:3.0.1-9ubuntu3. It is extremely annoying for anyone trying to autofill across merged cells, e.g. to make a simple spreadsheet calendar with tasks.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
