Upgraded from LO V 4.2.4.2 to 4.2.5.2. The problem appears resolved. Time from click of "File" on menu bar to when the drop-down menu appears: is near instantaneous. Hovering back and forth with the mouse over the top-level pull-downs (file, edit, view, etc.) works again without that disappointing "(Not Responding)" showing up in the Active Title Bar. Started and stopped calc multiple times and performance did not degrade.
