Cliff Carson, did you also try removing libreoffice-gtk3?

I tested this in Xubuntu 64-bit and still could not reproduce this problem.

As a potential WORKAROUND, does the following PPA demonstrate the same problem https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/libreoffice-prereleases?field.series_filter=quantal ?
