Doing:
sudo addgroup --system nvram

And changing the order of "ldap files" to "files ldap" on nsswitch.conf
passwd: ldap files TO passwd: files ldap
group: ldap files TO group: files ldap
shadow: ldap files TO shadow: files ldap

ON
#cat /etc/issue
Ubuntu 6.10 \n \l

the problem was fixed!!!!
