From a MIR perspective, this is approved. It could use a bug subscriber. I've uploaded a version that adds a symbols file (and forwarded the patch to debian).

Note to archive admins: you may want to consider http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=633643 on whether you promote this. I'm not sure if that's severe enough to be a blocker until the new version is packaged.
