Duplicate playlists in Banshee

When I try to sync my iPod Video (5th gen.), Banshee (maybe libgpod, to be accurate) does not recognize existing playlists on the iPod and creates duplicate playlists over the existing ones.

This happens on the latest Banshee in the Ubuntu 12.04 Precise repositories. However, it does not happen on the latest Banshee in the Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid repositories. I am not sure when it started, but I think Banshee in Ubuntu 11.04 or 11.10 has the same issue.

The same thing happens in my Ubuntu 12.04 distro, using Banshee 2.6 and an Ipod Classic (as well as an Ipod Touch 2nd Generation). Other than this specific bug, Banshee is the perfect Itunes clone for Linux, if not better.

This affects me as well. Banshee is great but this bug makes it very frustrating to use. I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 with libgpod 0.8.2-4 and banshee 2.4.1-3. There is this mailing list post about it:

This should be fixed in the latest libgpod. However, Banshee still needs to be rebuilt to pick up this bug fix.

Is there a bug to track the Banshee rebuild necessary to pick up this fix? Would it qualify for an SRU on 12.04 or 12.10?
