It looks like my problem with my Fuji FinePix automounting was being caused by Rhythmbox's "Portable Players - MTP" plugin." As long as Rhythmbox was running with the MTP plugin enabled, my camera would not automount. Disabling the MTP plugin allowed the camera to automount and removed the "usbfs: USBDEVFS_CONTROL failed cmd gvfs-gphoto2-vo" error. Oddly I also have a different camera that automounts regardless of whether the MTP plugin is enabled.
