It crashes on the client side of PAM as well:

▲ ~ sudo id
Swipe your right index finger across the fingerprint reader
An unknown error occurred
free(): double free detected in tcache 2
[1] 1047951 abort sudo id

I do not think it is intended behavior, also it never happened with the old version
