lftp 4.8.1 has a known bug where it will crash upon exit. This bug was fixed on Oct 3, 2017 but is not included in lftp 4.8.1.

Here is the commit that addresses the issue:

Currently lftp is not usable in scripts due to the segfault / core dump.
