Hi Dimitrios,
Thanks for your fast help. I believe I am installing  Sudo dkms remote kvm
-72 as I right this email. I will let you know as soon as it is installed.
Just on another note I am very impressed with the overall performance of this Ubunta system (albeit I can't get my Ekida phone to work but I just keep downloading the updates as they are supplied and hope something fixes it) and I believe here in Cambodia where 99% of computer users use knocked off Windows and there is a huge potential for your system here when Microsoft eventually cracks down on it. I am pretty dumb when it comes to anything more than computer basics but if I can assist your organisation in any way to promote UBUNTA  (I consult in business dev) please let me know
Kind regards
Alex

Hi Dimitrios,
Alex back again. After installation, notified that errors were encountered while processing; kvm source
E; sub process
/usr/bin/a  pkg returned an error code (1)
A package failed to install, trying to recover; setting up kvm-source (1;22+d fsg-lubuntu 6)....
ERROR! DKMS tree already contains ;kvm-72
You cannot add the same module/ version combo more than once.
d pkg ; error processing kvm- source (- con figure);
sub process post- installation script returned error exit status 3
Errors were encountered whilst processing; kvm source

I then rebooted the system to see if any improvement but the same and kicks into "quaram" disk which takes over. Basically this is what the messages say.....

corosync died during start up.
fenced (55954): cm- admin-init . error
fenced tool waiting for cman to start
ccs(5843) unable to connect to cluster  (this goes on for 300 seconds)
then "quarum" ?? disk cuts in and takes over
during this time, it reads "Your system does not have extension for kvm

Don't know if any of that helps but as I mentioned before I believe there is a huge opening for Ubuntu here in Cambodia and once I get all the bugs out of my system I can show your system as a legal alternative to the Window Knock offs here. Microsoft have recently opened an office here and the writing is on the wall before they pounce. The irony for me is I purchased a legal copy of windows but have found it useless as after weeks of trying to get my genuine copy I was unable to "activate" (they give you 30 days). Cambodia is apparently in an area where you can't  activate on line and after weeks of emails to "CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! (joke) they finally gave me a number to phone in Thailand
and getting no answer ( by which time I was locked out of my computer) I got on to the right person (after several transfers) only to be cut off right at the crucial time of imputing my id. So I gave up in disgust and am using a knock off (which worked better then the genuine one whilst it was on)in tandem with yours  until I get your system up to speed and am able to to do all the things I can do on windows.(90% which I can do now)
I am sure you needed to know all that. BUT MY MAIN POINT IS I HAVE NO TIME FOR MICROSOFT and any chance that I have I have to take business away from them I will.
Kind regards
Alex

alex, a couple of questions:

1) you didn't tell us the output of "dkms status"
2) when you ran the command "sudo dkms remove kvm-72", did you get any errors? try it once more, please...
3) why are you trying to install kvm-source? the kernel in ubuntu 8.10 already includes the kvm modules...

Hi there-

The DKMS installation of kvm-source is currently broken for upgrades. I'm currently working on fixing this for Jaunty, in Bug #334177.

As such, I'm going to mark this bug a duplicate of that one for now. Once I get it fixed in Jaunty, you can perhaps request a backport to Intrepid.

Thanks for the bug report,
:-Dustin
