Bug Description

I believe this bug has been fixed upstream.
https://svn.kvirc.net/kvirc/ticket/1241
I apologize if that website gets recognized as being less than secure.
I will try to run KVirc 4.2 (latest stable) and report back whether the bug was fixed.

In KVirc, when you type in the input bar, the text cursor is fine at first. As you type in more characters, it starts moving to the left, and eventually ends up four or five spaces to the left of where your next letter is actually going to go. I guess alternatively, it could be seen as the text running away from the cursor.

stephen@falchion99:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
Release: 12.04

Version of the package:
kvirc:
  Installed: 4:4.1.3+20111124.svn5988-1
  Candidate: 4:4.1.3+20111124.svn5988-1
  Version table:
 *** 4:4.1.3+20111124.svn5988-1 0
        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I expected the cursor to move along as usual, and indicate where my next letter is going to be placed.
Instead, the cursor lagged behind the text, ending up to the left of where my new letters were being printed out on-screen.

Just upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS and I'm seeing this too. Stephen, if you read this: did upgrading KVirc to 4.2 resolve this issue for you?

With the changeset from upstream (https://svn.kvirc.net/kvirc/changeset/6037) and some info on how to recompile a source package from Ubuntu (the one I followed was http://www.moosechips.com/2008/09/ubuntu-rebuild-a-source-package/), I managed to locally install a fixed version.

So if Ubuntu would sync with upstream and release an updated version, all should be well I guess...
