Outside of the default included menus (Kickoff and Classic), i.e. Lancelot and KDE Menu Editor, this bug seems to be a lot more pervasive; the duplicate entries show up all the time, not only when searching, and exist for the majority of apps. Worse than the clutter this causes, clicking on the "wrong" entry opens the .desktop file in Kate instead of actually launching the application.
