Bug Description

Binary package hint: ktorrent

When I open a torrent in Dolphin, KTorrent launches OK & Dolphin says, "KDEInit could not launch '/usr/bin/ktorrent'."

Fix:
Add a line "X-DBUS-ServiceName=org.ktorrent.ktorrent" to /usr/share/applications/kde4/ktorrent.desktop

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase/+bug/37280/comments/12 states that this has been fixed, but I don't think it has been as I have the latest package (3.1.2+dfsg.1-0ubuntu2.1) and the changelog (http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/k/ktorrent/ktorrent_3.1.2+dfsg.1-0ubuntu2.1/changelog) says no such thing.

I think some of the behaviours described on this thread (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde4libs/+bug/184337) are due to this bug, and maybe on this one too. (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ktorrent-kde4/+bug/205513)

Many thanks,

Rupert Millard

Adding the dbus service name line to the .desktop file was a workaround for bug 184337, which was fixed in KDE 4.2.

I'm sorry for the duplicate bug. Although I thought I did, I clearly do not understand the stuff on bug 184337.

May I ask - why do kate.desktop and korganizer.desktop have the X-DBUS-ServiceName in them but nothing else? And why can't the ktorrent package be updated to include this fix / workaround? Why wait for KDE 4.2?
