For the attention of the ordinary user (Non specialist):-

I have overcome the problem of KompoZer quitting by installing SeaMonkey and removing Firefox, Thunderbird and KompoZer. Working well with no problems. For the various parts of SeaMonkey look in "Window" menu. "Composer" has no glitches that I have found.
