I also have the slow editing problem with my integrated intel graphics driver. Running Kile with "kile -graphicssystem raster" fixed the problem for me. I also noticed that turning off dynamic word wrap improved the problem. It's almost like the shifting of the lines in dynamic word wrap is extremely slow if you dont use the raster option.
