Bug Description
Binary package hint: adept-notifier
I've just installed alpha-2 of Kubuntu Intrepid, and I've found that the package updates system doesn't work properly.
The first problem was that whenever I clicked the icon notifying me that pending packages are available, no window appeared (for a split second a button for a new window showed on the task bar, though). Looking in xsession-errors I found the following message being printed every time I clicked the icon «Could not find 'kdesu' executable». Well, okay, so I installed the "kdesudo" package and the message went away. So there's a missing dependency here.
Now what is printed to .xsession-errors is this:
/usr/bin/xauth: (argv):1: couldn't query Security extension on display ":0.0"
No protocol specified
adept_updater: cannot connect to X server :0.0
QObject: Do not delete object, 'unnamed', during its event handler!
These lines are repeated every time I click the system tray icon. The updater does not appear. The same lines except the last one are printed to stdout/err if I do "kdesu adept_updater", too.
Tore
I get the same behaviour (clicking the icon saying that updated packages
are available causes a window to turn up in the task bar for a split second
before disappearing). In xsession-errors I get this line for every click:
Could not find 'kdesu' executable.
This is with an up-to-date intrepid.
